Description

The cost of this class includes model fees.

The body in all it's complexity, can be expressed in a single mark.

The presence or sense of something can be pulled into being when we work to get that something right.

The gesture or fall of a wrist can tell the story.

This three day workshop will engage our efforts in using solid techniques and perceptual elements and expand our ability to translate what we see, through the medium of drawing, oil painting and the body.

Each day will be an integration of drawing, oil sketches and satellite work around one min painting, that will culminate on the last day.

The workshop will be energetic and fun and open to all.

Please bring your tenacity.

Materials

Students will need to bring the following materials:
  • A variety of pencils - graphite sticks, charcoal, water soluble pencils, anything capable of making a mark.
  • Erasers
  • Lots of paper, large sheets preferably so we can cut to size and heavy enough to take some punishment.
  • Drawing boards -- two of more.
  • Masking tape
  • Board clips
  • Containers for water (jars, etc.)
  • Assortment of brushes, including LARGE, for use with both water and oil.
  • Assortment of pallet knives.
  • Turpentine or mineral spirits (must be odorless) + container.
  • Pallet for oil paint, the bigger the better.
  • Lots of rags or paper towels, but rags are best
  • Oil paint (where possible try to bring these colors.

     - Alizarin Crimson - Ivory Black
     - Burnt Sienna - Napes Yellow
     - Chrome Orange - Raw Sienna
     - Cobalt Blue - Titanium White

  • For oil sketches I will provide Masonite boards, which you can purchase from me during the workshop.
